From Kingdom to Kingdom, a Landgrove Wedding
We had the privilege of photographing John & Avery’s wedding in Landgrove, Vermont this August — and wow, what a day. It was whimsical, down-to-earth, full of handmade touches, and brimming with character (and characters).
The day brought together family and friends from both the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and the UK — a true “kingdom to kingdom” celebration.
A Ceremony Steeped in History
The ceremony took place at the Landgrove Meeting House, a classic and Vermonty setting where Avery’s family has held weddings for generations. The space was filled with forest ferns, the glow of real candlelight, and a balcony packed with guests looking on.
And the most magical detail? Avery’s veil, which has been worn in over 40 family weddings. That kind of detail can’t go unmentioned!
A Procession Through the Woods
After the vows, John & Avery led their guests on a one-mile walk through the woods to Avery’s grandmother’s home, where the celebration continued. Somewhere along the way, a deer sprinted across the trail and leapt off a rock, soaring right over the line of guests — as if Vermont itself wanted to make a dramatic entrance.
A Feast & A Hoe Down
Dinner was hearty and handmade: kale salad, roasted chicken, and sourdough bread lovingly baked by Avery’s mom. The meal rolled right into a lively hoe down, led by a square dance instructor. The dance floor shook with laughter, music, and stomping feet, which eventually gave way to a late-night afterparty that stretched into the early hours.
A Day That Felt Like Them
What made this wedding so special wasn’t just the beautiful setting or the joyful energy — it was how personal everything felt. From the meeting house to hand-drawn name cards on the tables, every piece of the day reflected John & Avery in the most genuine way.
